"Just thinking of the distances we travel and yet how far we've still to sail as men."
a sense of belonging
its often times not the actual look of a scene but its ability to place you in senses like a different story than your life.
little house on the prairie
the catskills hold a je ne sais quoi among american mountain ranges. this cabin sticks out in the cold white snow.
the northern lights
to be honest i was quite speechless when i got the film scans back from this roll. even now it's still something i only imagine in movies or make-believe.
island of sodor 2
to me the hardest thing about landscape photography is that most of the time the photo you are aiming to take has been taken many times over. here, whether or not this has, i don't care... it's transcendent.
forgotten prayers
tibetan prayer flags strewn upon a dying tree thats off the main trail. the landscape carried an air of "abandon hope all ye who enter here"
the ponderosa
few places have impressed upon me a true sense of love for the outdoors than this. perhaps i can live another life some day.
nausicaa
unlike the fantasy, this speaks to a perfectly healthy jungle that exists as an ecosystem largely untouched.
deja vu
as much as i try to give some insight to either the photograph or the story behind it, there are some that simply help me clear my thoughts and eases the mind.
spirit
for want of a longer lens the photo was lost. I would have loved to get closer but they say the best camera is the one thats with you. in the end, i still enjoy this photograph.
the long winter, over
as much as film vs digital has become a polarizing topic in recent years, it's photos like this that captures color in such detail all the while attaching itself to a distinct memory of mine that binds me to film.
nomad
find yourself walking in a painting. a super 8 camera in a backpack on the salt flats of bonneville. wonder how Dalí would have seen this landscape.
the secret garden
"where you tend a rose my lad, a thistle cannot grow." i think as long as we tend to the necessary things in life, our life will flourish.
storms coming annie
this and a few others of mine were shot on silbersalz's motion picture film set for 35mm. its amazing when you snap a picture and it renders exactly how you envisioned it.
on the third day at dawn look to the east
and as i looked to the horizon i saw but a glimpse of golden light that crested upon the snowy mountains.
where i was
none of what i say truly matters, but if there is one thing that can remain, i would say that out there lies your own adventure in a world that has more to offer than you imagine. all you need is to go.
